OS Auto Update

AHD VM uses Zincati to automatically update its Operating System.

Zincati checks periodically for a new release of Fedora CoreOS. If it finds a new release, it waits for the first maintenance window to run the update and reboot AHD VM.

The default maintenance windows for AHD VM are (in CET time):

  • Saturday 23:30 to Sunday 00:30
  • Sunday 23:30 to Monday 01:00
info

Remember that when an OS update happens, there's a few minutes of downtime. Make sure to evaluate if you're OK with downtime during the maintenance windows.

If the maintenance windows defaults are not fit to your use-case, you can change them by editing the file:

/etc/zincati/config.d/55-updates-strategy.toml
danger

Maintenance windows can also be disabled.

It is highly discouraged to do so, unless you know what you're doing. Disabling maintenance windows means that you will have to manually update Fedora CoreOS and keep up with the latest releases.
